Andy Carroll is set to earn a new-one year deal at Newcastle after impressing boss Steve Bruce.
The Geordie striker returned to his boyhood club in the summer on an initial 12-month contract.
Carroll's current deal was dependant on his appearances for the club due to his long list of previous injury problems.
One of the stipulations is believed to state that Carroll must play in 20 matches for the Toon this season, with the 30-year-old so far featuring in 12.
However Bruce has already seen enough from the frontman to convince him to extend Carroll's stay.
